Purpose
The Department of Instructional Technology (InsT) at USU, has a long tradition of providing outreach programs throughout the state of Utah. Through the use of technology and evolving research that demonstrates best practice, the department's distance education program provides an avenue for individuals, regardless of where they live in the state, to have access to a graduate education without relocating to Logan.
This program is specifically designed for public school teachers and administrators who want to increase their understanding of the role of technology and its appropriate implementation in the teaching and learning process. The Educational Technology (EdTech) Master's degree provides the privileges of advanced education with local access that can provide career advancement, peace of mind, and technical confidence. These benefits come from a program that intends to help its graduates evaluate, integrate and implement various forms of technology and instructional design skills into their current teaching or administrative assignments. The Master of Education Degree with an emphasis in Educational Technology is a 37 semester hour program of course work with a culminating experience and development of a portfolio. In order to matriculate into this graduate program, an individual must have:
- Completed a bachelor's degree from an established institution of higher education.
- Achieved a minimum test score above the 40th percentile on either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT).
- Achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA for the last 90 quarter or 60 semester credits taken during their bachelor's degree.
